Decathlon Hong Kong chooses Adyen’s Unified Commerce solution
The sports brand raises the bar with flexible and easy checkouts across online and offline sales channels
Adyen, the global financial platform of choice for leading companies, recently announced its partnership with Decathlon Hong Kong, one of the world’s largest sports goods companies. Adyen is the end-to-end payment solution provider for Decathlon Hong Kong’s online store, in-app purchases, and all its eight physical stores in the city. Enabled by Adyen’s Unified Commerce solution, Decathlon Hong Kong now has a single overview of all its payment channels and transactions, bringing the utmost convenience to sports enthusiasts.
Adyen's Unified Commerce solution allows Decathlon Hong Kong to deliver the best-in-class customer services with flexible and easy checkouts both online and in stores, which is essential for the fast-paced population in the city. For instance, Adyen’s in-person point of sale (POS) terminals easily integrate with the sports brand’s POS system to provide quick and stable payment processing at the self-checkouts in the store.
Working with Adyen allows Decathlon Hong Kong to accept popular payment methods such as Apple Pay (already available) and Google Pay (launching in late 2024) for online and in-app transactions. While favored by consumers, these payment methods had not been available for the brand’s online transactions.
The payments value chain typically involves many parties handling different aspects of payments. However, Adyen’s single platform combines the functionalities of a payments processor, gateway, and acquirer, therefore allowing Decathlon Hong Kong to work with one single partner for payments across all channels. As a result, the sports brand gets greater control and visibility over its entire payment value chain, easily consolidating and reconciling transactions across multiple channels.
The partnership between Decathlon Hong Kong and Adyen represents a significant step forward in setting new standards for excellence in the sports retail industry, driven by a shared commitment to innovation and customer-centricity.
Kent Lam, Head of Technology, Decathlon Hong Kong said, “The partnership with Adyen aligns perfectly with our goal of providing innovation-driven experiences for our local sports community. Working with Adyen as our single provider eliminates the hassle of managing multiple vendors, meaning that we can now direct more effort to elevating the customer journey and being a partner to our customers’ sports needs.”
Kai Tang, Head of Hong Kong, Adyen said, “We are pleased to support Decathlon Hong Kong in their ambitions. Our single platform not only reduces operational complexity but also offer richer customer insights for businesses, and we look forward to helping Hong Kong businesses stay ahead of the game with our payments solutions.”
